It's the Panasonic 12-35/2.8 and 35-100/2.8 you need if it's zooms you are after. Excellent image quality along with very good stabilization perfect for a GH4. As portable as one could reasonably expect. You can later add the 7-14/4 is you desire ultra-wide coverage.

And the Panasonic 15/1.7, 25/1.4 and 42.5/1.7 or 42.5/1.2 are also perfectly suited to a GH4 if you are thinking about primes.

I'd agree about the 12-35mm f2.8, but for bird shooting, the 35-100mm is just way, way too short. The RX10iii goes to 600mm, so less than that might be an issue.

I agree, but that's why I have more than 2 lenses. I can't see the entire 70-200 equivalent range as optional. Surely a 100-400 would be more ideal for birding, but seems to violate the OP's desires regarding size/weight. More detail from the OP would certainly help.

...but compared to other formats the 100-400 is tiny. Even my former Tamron 150-600 was no lightweight...but the 100-400 is handholdable and provides the range you need for birding and other wildlife. Spectacular lens!
