When I read the OP I thought "yes ! I can make my first contribution to a post" but then you said what I was going to say, only better lol.

lol so I beat you to the punch.

here are 2 photo that demonstrate how bad auto/smart is with the NX1000

This is auto/smart:

shutter speed: 1/30

Aperture: f/4

ISO: 100

Flash: Fired

Here is it shot in shutter priority mode:

Shutter speed: 1/100

Aperture: f/4

ISO: 100

Flash: Fired

As you can see there really is no reason the camera should use that low of a shutter speed.

I would also recommend using selection AF this way you know what is going to get focused on since this camera has a tendency to focus on everything but what you want in Multi AF.

Once you know the faults of the camera and avoid Auto/Smart and Multi AF its truly a wonderful camera.

I even kept my NX1000 in my living room fully charged and ready to snap a photo of the kids.

The shutter speed affects ONLY the ambient light and NOT the light from the flash (since the flash is "instantaneous").   You should notice that the part of your wall NOT illuminated by the flash is much brighter at 1/30 than 1/100.

Camera "auto" mode is fine.  It understands how flash works.

Also, there will be no blur from subjects whose only light source is the flash, since the flash is "instantaneous".
