What is the 4K Crop Factor on Lumix G85?
1

The DPReview shows the 4K crop factor when showing an example of the image that the focus stacking mode produces. You can see it here: https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonic-lumix-dmc-g85-first-impressions-review/4. Is this a 1:1 crop factor or is it the same crop factor that the G7 had? It seems like it is cropped more than G7 4K, but it's hard to tell.

I don't know why Panasonic would crop the 4K video at all. That's a major turnoff for me. However, if the G85 has the same milder crop factor that the G7's 4K has, there would still be an improvement with field of view with the 12mm-60mm kit lens compared to the G7's 14mm-42mm kit lens (I may be in the minority because, to me, the extra 2mm on the wide end is much more important than the extra 18mm on the telephoto end).

I like the G85, but the 4K crop factor is unfortunate. Also, it is inexcusable and inexplicable that 1080 60p is still only 28mbps. Why needlessly cripple the camera like that and risk turning off potential buyers who may elect to get an RX10 ii or iii instead? Other than that, I am thrilled with the IBIS, dual I.S. ability, 12mm-60mm kit lens with power o.i.s., lack of optical low pass filter, weather sealing, shutter shock elimination (or near elimination), and focus stacking.
