EVF Live view not properly displaying picture result
Sep 21, 2016
I took a few shots this morning, only to find another bug/glitch. When looking at the EVF, either on the rear of the camera or through the viewfinder (they showed the same), what was showing appeared to be what I would say a properly exposed picture. Hit the shutter release, only to find in this case, the picture was way, way underexposed. With any of the three in an Auto setting (ISO, SS, or aperature), the display on the EVF didn't change. I could crank the ISO up to 10,000 and it still "showed" a properly exposed view on the EVF. Hitting the shutter in this case resulted in a photo way over exposed.
The EVF isn't showing what the picture will look like.
Closer inspection on the EVF, shows the slider on the left hand side, showing the picture would either be overexposed, normal, or underexposed, but the actual display doesn't change.
If I set everything in manual (ISO, SS and aperature), only then does the EVF change to show the resulting picture (raise ISO, the EVF display shows a brighter picture output, etc).
I've had the camera for about 5 days now, and just this morning it started this behaviour. I can't get the EVF to display what the picture will look like if any of ISO, SS or aperature are in Auto. I've removed the battery, no change.
I'm feeling really uneasy about this leap to Fuji and the X-T2. I don't think it's appropriate to pay as much money as I did, only to personally experience glitchy behaviour and read about others glitchy quirks too. (The other significant glitch I've experienced is while shooting, the camera on it's own, took about 4 pictures in perfect silence, drastically overexposed, followed by one good exposure, and all the settings were the same (ISO, SS, Ap)). Exveryone says "It will be fixed in the next FW"... That doesn't leave me with a comfortable feeling. I'm not sure I"m cut out for early adoption.
