Can anyone suggest a safe alternative to the Blackrapid? I am thinking of getting the Sunsniper.

The Joby strap is just as effective without the points of failure of the BR strap. The only possible way a Joby can come off is if the wing screw into the camera's tripod socket is way loose. My Joby also came with a safety tether I always use but never have needed. If you carry around a heavy tele mounted, you can attach the Joby directly to the Lens and take all the strain from the camera. A non tripod strap will bend your camera's lens mount out of alignment by excessive torque from a heavy lens. I have never had any problems with my Joby and can use it with any lens I have big or small.  I carry my 70-200 f/2.8 VRII mounted all day long with the Joby strap.
