What do you think will be the future then for the EF lens system, will it be at the heart of Canon mirrorless, or phased out ?

It'll be the heart of Canon mirrorless.  It is now, not just with the EF-M (which is essentially EF), but also with the "mirrorless" EOS Cine cameras and lenses.

The EF communication design is so forward thinking that you cannot even imagine anything that would require a change in the future.  The EF mount is wide enough and far enough from the sensor that EF lenses are very easily/simply adapted to any shorter mount, or to any sensor that is 43mm diagonal or smaller.  Dollars to doughnuts, the future is not going to be larger sensors.
