Re: Lumix G7 - Choosing the right lens?

For video you typically need a fast lens. Depending on your needs you probably want it a bit wide too. What exactly is your problem with the 14-42 that you want fixed by buying a new lens? You want to go wider? More tele? Better low light? You're not giving much to go on.

Universally acclaimed as the best option for video would be the Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 coupled with a speedbooster. That's expensive.

Next up would be the f/2.8 zooms. Oly 7-14, panny 12-35 and 35-100 (or their oly siblings) depending how wide or tele you want to go.

Finally you got the option of primes for a specific focal length you favor. Native primes offer AF and are quite expensive. For video work you could get by with a manual fast prime such as the samyang 12mm f/2 for significantly less money than your other options.
