When is 19AF points better than 9?
Sep 14, 2016
currently have a T2i. Considering an upgrade to either T6s or 80D. One of the differentiating factors between those 2 is the # and type of AF points, but I'm not sure what that matters to me. I shoot stills, mainly travel shots like architect, landscapes, and snapshots. With my T2i there really isn't much of a choice - use center point for AF all the time. I guess technically I should reassign the focus point when I focus-recompose off center-shoot but I generally keep my lens at F8 so it doesn't matter. I don't have fast glass so DOF not really an issue or concern with my lenses.
so...is there a compelling reason to go with the 45 AF points of the 80D vs the 19 with the T6s? Only reason I can see perhaps is the center point on the 80D is much better in low light (per the specs anyway), but do people use more AF points now with the new cameras that they wouldn't have with the older bodies?
Canon EOS 80D
Canon EF-S 10-22mm F3.5-4.5 USM
Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM
