Jim, I must disagree with you. The SX 50 is a very good camera, especially for a small sensor camera and it is very compact. However, the G3X with the 1" sensor allows for a much higher usable ISO and substantially more cropping. My two complaints with the G3X is effectively no continuous shooting in RAW (also true of the SX-50) and it eats batteries. I actually find the external EVF a plus. I use the EVF extensively, especially without a tripod, and like the ability to turn the EVF to vertical for low level shooting. If I wanted to get picky I would prefer that the LCD swing out and allow it to rotate like the LCD on the Rebel 4Ti (my other camera).

However, each to their own.
