Dear DPR forum users,

I am about (if money and wife allow) to switch to FF (probably an Eos 5D4) soon from APSC. I will probably also get a 24-70 zoom with it and it will certanly be my mostly used lens. I already own an EF 70-200 f/2.8 II wich I love.

Now I have an EF 50mm f/1.4 lens and in my experience it is excellent in terms of image quality. But given my current usage, I rarely used it so far with my Eos 7D camera. You can see what I do on Flickr below. So before I decide to sell it (and get a little cash for my FF purchase) I would like to hear from you guys what is your favourite use case for this lens ?

Would you rather use this lens for portrait, night shooting, (anything else) over an EF 24-70 f/2.8 ? Please let me hear your experience and thoughts on this topic...

Thank you very much
(First post as an OP here... hehe..

Nice, crisp and very varied shots there; the 24-70 covers 50mm well, so you really need to establish whether 50mm at something like f1.8, f2 would be really useful, particularly given the tiny depth of field on a full frame camera. At f1.4 you also need to decide if it looks bad, weird or special.

I love my 50mm 1.4 but I do treat it with a lot of care as the AF has a reputation for being fragile (lens hood on at all times). This really is a good candidate for an update from Canon.
