5D IV Crop Factor for 4K

Ok, I've seen a lot of confusion and mistakes about the crop factor of this camera for videos, even among professional reviews.

So lets get this straight.

If you want a number to calculate equivalent field of view the standard is to measure it by the diagonal. Sensor diagonal / Crop diagonal.

And those numbers are:

For 16:9 ---> 1.832955061280073

For 17:9 ---> 1.743899805657525

Thus, for a UHD field of view equivalent to 28mm you would need a 15mm lens.

(28mm / 1.84) = 15mm
