I definitely agree that there is not really any "perfect" kit. I'm still just coming to terms with what the perfect (or best) kit for me in particular really is.
For what it's worth, my current lens line up weighs 1.6 Kg (3.5 Lbs.). My proposed lens line up has fewer lenses, but weighs more at 1.8 Kg (4.0 Lbs.). So while I might change lenses less often, I would be carrying bulkier lenses weighing a half pound more collectively.
Depending on how critical your needs are above 55mm you could also consider the 55-200 which would probably make the weight pretty close to your current setup. I have the 16-55, 55-200 and 35 f2 combination and it works great for me. The 55-200 is a great lens - it's fairly small and just fast enough to get the job done for me. You'd also get more reach vs the 50-140.
My hesitation with the 55-200 is that it's not WR. I do a lot of photography during our twice annual Mexico trips and produce some photo based videos for the group that goes. I'm constantly standing in the pool and the ocean with my camera and get splashed repeatedly. Maybe WR is b*llsh*t but it makes me feel better.
Well that's a good reason to lean towards the 50-140. For me, the 16-55 is my go to lens and is the one I'm using more often than not in the worst conditions but I've used the 55-200 a fair amount and haven't had any issues.
