Re: Fuji W3 for SBS?

No question that the Fuji is the best 3D camera available, thats why its price is so high on the second hand market. The Lumix has only (I think) a 30cm interaxial, which makes it pretty useless for landscapes or anything more than a few metres away whatever else its merits may be.

For video I find the Fuji next to useless as the quality of the output is so poor.

LG 3D televisions will automatically playback .mpo files and which is great for playback direct from the W3 or from a flashdrive.

Projectors as far as I know dont accept .mpo without an additional conversion box so SPM is need to convert to SBS, Under/Over  or framepacking. Then you have to put on those expensive flickery glasses.....

I would love to be able to buy a 3D projector using Z-screen polarising technology as used in 3D cinemas at reasonanble cost, but I dont think that will happen as 3D once again is losing its appeal in general due to Hollywoods inability to produce 3D movies even half as convincing as The House of Wax and some others from the 50s. I would give Prometheus 8/10 though. The majority of current 3D movies now are just gimmicky 2D to 3D conversions to save time and hence money during production.

The good looking 3D movies of the 50s spawned my equally impressive Stereo Realist (and others). I have a box or two of great slides, but I just dont have the time to scan them all and convert to .mpo, so I use the Realist viewer, but its all quite a fuss to use and not really an experience to share with others. So overall a W3 and LG TV is a pretty good combination, but it is already starting to have an obsolete feel and there doesnt seem to be anything on the horizon.
