The Perfect Kit

Okay, so I know that I'm the only one that can decide this and that I should know what I need/want. Fine, agreed. Having said that, I'm always genuinely interested in the thoughts, opinions, and taste of others. I genuinely find discussion and debate to be stimulating and thought provoking. So, yeah, it's my decision, but hey, let's discuss:

My philosophy so far, in my Sony kit and my Fuji kit, has been to meet my primary needs with primes and then supplement with some zooms for convenience. Here's my current Fuji kit:

  • Wide angle/low light/close range/social: 16mm f/1.4
  • Normal FOV/Light/Small/Grab-n-Go: 35mm f/2
  • Portrait/Telephoto/Action/Boku Bokeh: 90mm f/2
  • Supplement for convenience: 18-135mm

I'm now rethinking this philosophy. Watching all the X-T2 videos (which I'll definitely buy), I've got the impression that Fuji has designed the X-T2 for zooms and the X-Pro2 for primes.  I'm more interested in the X-T2 and have started to realize that I'm really liking zooms more than I thought. Now, I'm considering using zooms to meet my primary needs with a prime to supplement the zooms (completely opposite philosophy). So, I' thinking of selling most of what I own and going with the following:

  • General all purpose: 16-55 f/2.8
  • Telephoto/portrait/action: 50-140mm f/2.8
  • Supplement with Low light/Grab-n-Go/Normal: 35mm f/2

What do you think?
