OP, hopefully you've concluded by now that your NEX body, without viewfinder and without IBIS, will be very inconvenient in shooting African wildlife.  210mm long end of a zoom is not enough for birds or even for large animals in Africa at your anticipated working distances.  Forget lens extenders attached to any zoom.

I have to say that you need a Nikon DX consumer body with  IBIS and VF and a 2 lens kit (18-xxx and 55-300 [yes, THREE hundred, not 200, to start with]; you might add a cheap WA such as MF Rokinon/Samyang 12mm.   Maybe you could take the Sony as a small backup body with your smallest lens.

I suggest that you also check the Wildlife Photography Forum and also specify your itinerary in your post.  There are some exceptionally experienced and well-traveled jungle and veldt photographers contributing there.
