Don't worry. Simply do some test shots around 24 mm of a building front with lots of details. Do f4 and f8. Check at home. Return if decentered (you do have a return option?). Keep if not. Decentered = one side blurred much more than the other side.

That covers decentering.

Whether you have a good or bad copy regarding side sharpness you can check also at 24 mm f4 and f8 if you have another kit lens to compare to. If side sharpness is about equal to the 1650/1855/18105, you have a good copy.

Once you have that settled, you can enjoy and forget about the rest.
