SD Quattro shot-to-shot times
4

Hi forum,

My SD Quattro arrived from B&H yesterday. I've seen questions regarding the buffer clearance, and I'm seeing about 6 sec a shot (based on some 5 and 10 shot bursts). I'm using one of those crazy small SanDisk 128 GB cards. Seems pretty damn good to me.

My impressions of the camera so far. Love the build, the dual screen and menus are surprisingly intuitive for me (I'm coming mainly from a SD15---I've had a DP3M, but never used it a ton because I miss a viewfinder). This is clearly a mirrorless SD replacement---those expecting a tiny camera need not apply. Back viewfinder seems 'modern' (in the best way). EVF is OK with focus peaking, but it's probably not going to be wholly satisfying to those used to state of the art EVFs. I have no modern lenses that are recommended for this camera, but MF isn't bad (and AF with the 85 mm works OK).

Too early to judge IQ---other than to say colors are great, and I did photograph some black dogs and see less blotches on my photos than I would with the SD15 (which was surprising, considering how much noise there is on the interwebs about this). With the finer pixel pitch, I expect that my handholding technique will be exposed for what it is (fair to middling), and I notice in some detailed garden photos 'narrower' depth of field due to the higher resolution (you can see the graduations as things get farther from the focal plane).

The shutter noise is 'different'. Not loud.

Processing on my mid-2010 iMac (i5 dual core) is rip roaring leisurely... A 10x speed up in processing speed would be gratefully appreciated.
