Help me make a "Smart" purchase. Upgrading from DX body

Hi all,

I've been using D40 for many years, then finally upgraded to D5500 as I like how small it is and other nice features such as touch screen, better ISO, decent photo quality.

Now, I guess I got the upgrade bug. Or maybe it's more of wanting a 2nd body that I'd use not for travel but for photo shoots.

Things I photograph? My family, my kids running around, portrait of my wife, travel photos, people photography. Not much landscape. I rarely post process in LR but have been playing around with it a bit.

I got very intrigued by the fact that for $600 I can buy a D700. I am all for buying older gear, paying less and getting quality stuff, hence my title for this thread.

Someone suggested D700 with a lens like 60mm 2.8 ($250).

What I would want to improve compared to D5500

1) Always up for better quality photos

2) My shutter speed with flash on is only 1/200s, so I can't use flash during bright daylight to deal with shadows shooting at aperture of f3.5 and shutter at 1/1000s for example.

3) Want to take advantage of FX lenses.

4) I am in love with beautiful bokeh. Hopefully FX camera will give me better bokeh.

Any advice is highly appreciated. Thank you.
