I'm aware of the fact that Sony has good lenses to offer.
But they are not in Canons STM lens price range plus I was looking to replace my RX100 so my hopes were to get a good 16-50mm unit shipped with the a5100 because of the compactness.
OK a few cheap Sigma primes for Sony E-Mount are very good quality but they seem not to be really compatible with the autofocus points of the Sony cameras... That's sad...
Thank you for confirming the fact that Nikons cheap lenses aren't as good as Canon's STM lenses.
Nikons cheap zooms ain't but the 35mm and 50mm are actually better the Their STM counterparts
But I read also that Nikons lenses are better built quality. If that matters the (more or less) higher price tag is justified.
The 50mm is definately a class above the Canon. Unfortunately priced accordingly too.
I'm a very price aware buyer comes to photography, so I was looking for the best quality at very low price and this is the combination of a Rebel camera with a STM lens at least for me.
Depends what you think is low price.
Fuji has the best kit lens with their 18-55mm You can get a Xe-2(s) for the latest rebel price.
Even the cheap D3300 has a sensor superior to canons Apsc flagship. You could buy a body only and get a Sigma 17-70mm C which is a class above the STM zooms.
Yes I would like to have a Sony a6000 with a 1000 EUR super sharp Zeiss lens mounted on it but I can not afford it at least can not justify giving this money only to have here and there some better shadows and a tad more visible clouds or some more fine details in pixel peeping.
Mounting that 1000 dollar Zeiss on a A6000 is just being a idiot.Their 50mm F1. 8OSS is nearly as good on the A6000 adds IS and it's very affordable.
The 55mm zeiss comes to life on a A7 series body. Canon doesn't make a 50mm half as good as that one including the F1. 2L
This is not worth it until I win the lottery.
True since then you could afford the required A7r2 to make it shine.
These products are amazing but just out of reach for potential rebel customers.
It's personal preference whether to spend the hard earned money on the newest iPhone/iPad/Macbook or Camera stuff. For me the camera stuff has to step back Sony and Nikon system are too expensive for me.
