Re: Canon Lens on Nikon Body

Lenses must be positioned the proper distance from the focal plane.  The Canon Mount is larger than the Nikon mount because Canon moved from FD to EF mount in 1987.  So Nikon lenses are able to fit within the canon mount with the proper adapter.  With that said the canon electrical interface cannot talk to newer Nikon "Chipped" lenses.  But older manual focus Nikon lenses work well with Canons.

Canon lenses cannot fit within Nikon mounts because they are wider at the mount, so there is no way they can be positioned the proper distance from the focal plane.
