I received my G7 Thursday afternoon, charged the battery and took off to a car show. First pictures I took with the new camera...lol

Couple of things

I must have bumped the lens and changed the focal length to 25mm which messed up my dof as I thought it was set to 14mm.

Took a shot of the sky to check the sensor and sure enough had some dust on it. Easy enough to remove it.

Pictures look pretty good. Had some white balance issues. Look like I will take my grey card along in the future. Got to spend some time figuring out what happened. Shiny car hoods most likely.

The swing out lcd is perfect for me

Ergonomically this is a great camera

Still evaluating spending $75 to upgrade lightroom or use silkypix. I am hopeful I can get a jpg out of the camera the way I want it. I would much rather spend time to shoot, review and upload remotely using wifi hotspots.

Pretty happy.

John

Most of what i read suggests Panny's Noise Reduction is aggressive and leads to "smeary" jpegs.   I've knocked the noise reduction down as low as it will let me as i do shot fine jpg fairly often...
