How often would you want to change a lens when your camera is wet? Probably not a lot, which is why I am typically using zooms when WR is needed. The DA16-85 has a great range and can be quite good if used correctly. But there's also the DA*16-50, DA18-135, even the cheap 18-55s and 18-50's you could get.

Having already the 16-85 is making me stay away from those. I had the DA*16-50 and I believe is one of the best lenses out there, but for people who KNOW photography, and not looking just for the brick and review photo. That lens has a unique character, and it renders as well as most primes, or even better. I did love it. But: it is heavy, expensive, and it has a short range. I would have bought it if I was going to get again in the PRO bussines, but I'm not planning to. The other ones, are not quite there in terms of IQ.

I suppose it would be nice to have some WR Limiteds besides the excellent DA20-40 Limited, but I'd rather they fill out their FF lineup. And maybe these new primes will be WR...

The DA 20-40 Ltd would be a great add on the list, if it weren't that expensive. For that price I could get a DA 35 Ltd, DA 70 Ltd and a DA15 Ltd... which are more useful for my taste. Or even, used DA*55 and a DFA 100 Macro.

I'm glad we have WR lenses at the price points we do and hope the new ones aren't priced in the stratosphere

It's great that there are entry level cameras and lenses, but there should be a commitment to the full line up. That's my point.
