Oh my god! I'll have to take my NX1 to Samsung Service... AGAIN! (Although I'll wait till September as I have some holidays pending in August).

My current issues (thanks otto k and vasile, as your telnet trick, and any of the scripts which inform about pressed keys, have been really useful for a complete diagnosis):

  • The NEW one. The rear wheel (Custom Wheel) has just stopped working. (Actually while browsing my taken pictures). No key signal when turning it either clock- or counter-clockwise.
  • My A position in the PASM dial sometimes fails: it has a faulty/loose connection somewhere. Sometimes it does not give the "F8" key signal. I've been living with it for a while...

But in the past I have also suffered:

  • My top dials went completely FUBAR. At the beginning I thought it was something wrong I had made within a FW update but, no, it was something wrong within the top plate (or something like that)... (Whole story here, not really interesting at all ). Repair covered by warranty.
  • I received a faulty brand new 50-150S lens (and BTW I suffered a horrible experience with a German shop). And no, it wasn't a grey-market product. It was a brand new fully legal and official product bought in a (supposedly) fully serious and trusty professional shop. Whole story here, not really interesting at all.

And I'm not the only one. Two other recent examples (just to name a couple):

Too many issues under normal usage. And I swear I don't use my NX1 as a hammer... And I also swear I've never ever suffered an issue with my former Canon 450D, 7D, EF-S 17-55...

Hopefully, I'm still covered by the European 2 year warranty. But this is NOT serious.

(Sorry Samsung, I suppose it's irrelevant now you've left the market through the back door, but you cannot expect wining the pro-market respect with such CRAP products... You know, good gear is something more than high specs which you undeniably fulfill. Reliability is a KEY factor you just DON'T KNOW even how to approach).

The two "other examples" you cited are pretty clearly related to some sort of impact damage, not inferior quality. They are low end lenses made from plastic, and those sorts of things will fracture.

I have had lower end Canon lenses that have literally wobbled on the zoom shaft. My Nikon P900 creaks when you move your hand.  If you buy cheaper products you can't expect too much. Buttons and such fall off Canon cameras as well.

Most instances of gross mechanical failure in these sorts of products is due to user mistreatment rather than an actual manufacturing defect. When it happens repeatedly, it is usually to the same people.
