Sony A7 the walkaround camera.

After trying some Fuji cameras for walkaround, indoor concert and vacation/city trips I decided on the A7.

At a price point of €999 with 28-70 it was hard to pass on this camera.

With small primes this formfactor really shines and although very small for a full frame camera the ergonomics are very good.

Don't change metering much since in manual the EC dial can +/-3EV (iso is controlled in manual) so less buttons to push and no menu diving. So instead of actually changing the exposure you now change brightness to get to your goal.

There is a switch that lets you go from AF to MF and back, the kit lets you manually adjust focus after focus lock (DMF) and there is a button inside the switch that can be set for BBF.

In general set auto iso and adjust when needed/room for improvement. Very nice for quick changing light situation like SP and event.

There are three custom buttons (not that well located) and a list of functions can be assigned.

After a while added a nice Voigtlander 50 1.5 with a simple Kipon adapter. Now we gotten to the interesting part of the camera aside the sensor...zebra and focus peeking. It needs to get used to for a bit, but after a days shooting most pictures got the DOF there where you want it to be. Shooting big open apertures may still be a challenge but that is no different with AF either.

Gave 5/5 stars since the camera does what it is supposed to do, a walkaround with low light performance, lattitude in post and with small primes you can keep the bulk down.
