Re: 35mm F2 VS 35mm F1.4 : which is sharper?

I plan to get one of these when i get my next ILC. Every image I've loved the look of has been taken by someone with the f1.4, it just renders in a beautiful magical way in the right light, many well known photogs have also said this, it is also optically corrected however, as others have said the f2 is more refined, silent, WR and quicker (with certain cameras) with 95% of the image quality IMO. It doesn't chatter, like the f1.4 and is also cheaper but does have digitally corrected distortion which is corrected in camera using JPG but some images i've seen still shows curvature, and IMO the bokeh isn't as nice, as i said - prob 95% but that 5% makes a diff. A slight niggle. Its a tough one.

I would also add, its not all about sharpness. Many more elements make a lens, such as contrast and rendering. According the lenstip the Nikon 35 1.8g was half as sharp as the F2, a lens i owned and loved. It was plenty sharp, even wide open.

The 1.4 looks great at 1.4 especially for portraits even tho its not rated as super 'sharp' and looks warmer. Again, this is subjective. Still not sure what i'd go for.
