It kinda sucks, but I kinda like it

I think it's fairly difficult to make a review of this kind of lens in 2016. It has never been a "high end" lens, so even back when it was new it was not bringing amazing performance to the table.

The reason why i got it was simply the price. I was able to find one for less than 30$ in nearly as-new conditions. I wanted to fill the gap at the long end for those occasional situations when I need to shoot something in the distance, but in the past I had the Canon 70-300 IS and was not impressed by that, so I really didn't want to spend some serious money. Also, the 70-300 IS USM mkII is rumored to show up soon, so the 90-300 will work as a replacement while I wait to see if that lens will be what I'm looking for.

Back on the 90-300. Even on a sensor like the 6D's, which is not very demanding at all, the lens struggles a bit to produce really ncie images. Contrast is the main issue, adding some contrast in PP is basically a must.

Sharpness is not terrible, definitely better than the contrast. Again, we're talking about a lens that is cheaper than many lens-hoods, so if you're expecting it to blow you away you might be disappointed.

Autofocus is fairly decent, definitely the best feature of this lens. When a subject is in the center Af point of my 6D (which is the Chosen One) then the lens will quickly get focus.

All in all, for a sub 30$ zoom lens whose only purpose is to cover focal ranges up to 300mm allowing me to take pictures, I like it. Of coure I'd be happy to replace it with something better, but as a placeholder it works perfectly fine.
Also, I always feel happy when I can buy something really old at a ridiculously low price and give it a chance to serve its purpose.
I'd rate it 3 stars overall: 1 star for the optics, 3 stars for the Af, 5 stars for value, so an average of 3 on my book. I've read many horror stories (and seen many Youtube videos) about Tamron's and Sigma's 100/150$ 70-300mm zooms, especially regarding their Af performance. Being not willing to fork out the extra cash for the 70-300 VC and with the new 70-300 IS USM mkII not available yet, I'll gladly enjoy this 90-300 grandpa for a while.
