I'm a soon-to-be Fuji owner and am considering to buy the "brick" 16-55 2.8 and the 18-135 - one of the key considerations is that they are both weather resistant - I have the unfortunate luck of being caught in rain storms!

I'm pretty certain I'll be getting the brick, but not too sure about the 18-135 - I've heard loads about the 18-55, but that is not WR hence I can't, at this time, consider it. Are the optics for the 18-135 good enough for mainly family (young kids) photos?

I'll also probably add the non WR 10-24 sometime in the future.

Welcome to the Fuji world.

You mention that you are mainly interested in "family/young kids" photo's, and you are interested in WR lenses. I feel that the 18-135WR lens would serve you nicely when shooting outdoors in decent light. For moving people indoors you are going to need something somewhat faster, but the overlap of the 16-55 + 18-135 combo is not so sensible in my opinion. Consider something like the 23 or one of the 35's for indoor and low light conditions as your second lens perhaps?
