Everyone here in the Fuji X forum hates all the mushy, pattern-noised images we've been getting out of our current cameras for the last four years. Good job Fuji FINALLY got a decent sensor right?

The "older sensor" in the XT10 was superb...coupled with my 55-200 I got some of the cleanest shots I've ever taken...

Your statement is well wide of the mark tbh...

Dave...

You need to get better at recognizing sarcasm, you and threaded actually agree.

And to the OPERA, define massive please. The new sensor is better but not massively so.

of course not every photo out of the older fuji sensor is mushy with pattern noise but it's about consistency, sure LR might not be the best PP tool for the older sensors but the problem is there in OOC Jpegs.

My wife has the X-T1 and loves it, as a camera I really liked the X-T1 and will be buying an X-T2.

It all comes down to personal taste, most of the time I liked what I got out of the older fuji sensor.

going to have to disagree with you though, the new sensor is a massive improvement, not just in image quality but also in the consistency of good image quality, no pattern noise, no mushy skin

My specific complaint is with the term “massive.” I have recently been working on a retrospective where I have been reviewing and printing photographs dating back over 15 years. These are from scanned 35mm and MF film, to my first serious digital (a 3MP Canon D30) to a 42MP Sony A7RII. If we are going to describe the IQ difference between the XT1 and XP2/XT2 as massive what term are we to use to describe the IQ difference between the Canon D30 and Sony A7RII?

For me with regards to the X-Pro2 sensor being a massive improvement over the previous Fuji sensors is in consistency and image quality.

It's not just the plastic looking skin that you "can" get from the old sensor, or the crazy very digital looking patterns that would appear in brickwork/walls/grass/trees/bushes, the whites seem much cleaner, less of those warm tones that would bleed over the image for no reason.

obviously the above doesn't appear in every photo I've taken with the old fuji sensor camera but the new sensor produces a solid, very good consistent output.

I personally like cameras with lower MP, one of my main concerns with the X-Pro2 was the jump from 16 to 24mp, I would like to see an X100 or X-E camera with a good 12mp sensor.

Large MP cameras have their place, I've shot several weddings with a pair of D800E's and the DR and MP count really comes in to play, but personally I prefer the images from lower MP cameras like the 5D/D700/Df.

I'm confidant that when I take a photo with my X-Pro2 that the out put will be as I expect, that to me is a massive improvement.

This is all just my personal opinion and it probably isn't yours, there is no argument to be had here, thousands of people like the older Fuji sensor and may well prefer it to the new one, I wouldn't argue that those people are wrong, it's all down to personal preference.
