E-M1 vs. A7II Thoughts

It's easy to forget how "old" these cameras are.

The pace of progress in mirrorless is tied to processing power. Considering that sensors and CPUs roughly follow Moore's law, you can expect double the processing power every 2 years. That's why EVFs, video, and AF are improving in such leaps.

The E-M1, which I have used extensively, is starting to show it's age imo. That doesn't mean it's not a class act. However, the A7Rii totally outclassed the A7ii that I will be interested to see what the A7iii brings.  What I look forward to is the improvements in EVF, AF, and video that replacements are sure to bring.  The XT-2 is one I'd like to try next and test against a E-M2. The EVF, AF, 4k, dual card slots, and power solutions are all what I'd expect in an E-M2.

Anyhow, I expect these two cameras should be judged with age and progress considered strongly. The new crop of cameras this coming year will be better than both of these imo.

Cheers, Seth

What if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?
