I got nx1 knowing samsung abandoned the nx line. The deal was really good IMO. 16-50mm s lens kit with all the accessories and vertical grip in great condition barely used for a bit under $1500. I wanted to do a bit of photos and video (70% video). I am just starting to get more serious about the hobby and was using point and shoot before so not invested in lenses. I just don’t see any company taking commanding lead in hybrid cameras to decide on a brand. Seems like sony and panasonic both are going at it but both have major pitfalls atm. Have to see if gh5 becomes what everyone wants but I doubt their focus system will evolve that fast to rival sony. Even if it does the body will most likely be well above $1500 without lens. I figure 3-5 years from now I can make the decision then. Also lots of small retailers are now selling non s lenses for half the retail price. So samsung lenses are actually cheaper then sony or panasonic. I just plan to start with 12-24, 50-200, and the 16-50 s lens I already have as my main lens.
Samsung NX1
Samsung NX 50-200mm F4-5.6 OIS
Samsung NX 12-24mm F4-5.6 ED
Samsung 16-50mm F2.0-2.8
