The NX500 has come alive for me since its apparent death.
1) I managed to swap my 20mm lens for the 10mm one, I am now able to use the 4k mode for video recording in most applications at a sensible focal length.
2) The bit rate hack now means my videos are over 150 MBPS.
Ok, its still 8 bit, but we're still some time away from affordable next level video in cameras like this, this is likely good enough to keep up with the rx100 MK4 & A6300.
The photo quality is good enough for most, + the 28 Megapixels is going to be an enviable megapixel rating in years to come.
Honestly, its still a very good camera which I can't see myself replacing until 10 bit pro res becomes the video norm, as you guessed, I use my cameras as much for video as I do photos.
I'll probably buy the 18-200mm lens too to go with my 10 & 30.

Just in case you missed the old news, the 18-200 is hella soft for photos.  It's nice for video, but for photos it is a no go for me past about 35mm.  It is the only NX lens I own that I do not find at all satisfying.  And honestly, I knew that before I bought it but... I donno, I guess I just felt a need to try it firsthand.
