Fuji 16mm prime hunting for focus...

I am using this lens on the x-Pro2. The other two lenses I have for this camera are the 35mm 1.4 and 16-55zoom.

I just received a used Fuji 16mm f/1.4 from bhphoto that was rated as a 9. I have read lots of glowing reviews, so I expected to feel the excitement right away for the lens.

However, I have been feeling a bit disappointed as I've been shooting coffee mugs and flowers around the house. The lens seems to take a lot of effort to focus, and is often locking on the wrong part of the frame to focus. I haven't felt like this with either of the two other lenses I've used and I am worried that this is a characteristic of a used lens.

Should I be expecting better performance? Once the focus does lock, the pictures are gorgeous, sharp, what I have seen on all the forums. But, getting there... zoomy hunty zoom.

Any tips? Advice? I still have time to return the lens. I was going to get the 10-24, but the WR and 1.4 swayed me to this lens.

Thanks in advance.
