Dear Fuji: Fewer filter sizes, please

I hope Fuji tries to limit the number of filter sizes they introduce going forward. This is especially important when the lenses have the  compact square hoods (which I like, except for price and the complications when using a polarizing filter), because one can't use step-up rings; same applies to most of the bayonet hoods, in fact.

Specifically, for the current line (with hindsight):

  • Couldn't the 27 and 60 have used 52mm filters, like the 18 and 35, rather than that silly 39 mm size?
  • Could the 14 have used either the same 52 mm filter, or the same 62 mm size as the  23, 56, and 90?
  • Were the 16/67, 50-140/72, and 16-55/77 really all necessary?

I know lens design is complex, and this is yet another thing; but good multi coated filters are both necessary and expensive! (I use polarizers, IR, ND, and some B&W contrast filters).

okay, rant over. Rock on, Fuji .
