Discussion over for 36mp bayer!
3

For me anyway, I am now in no doubt that a 24mp x-trans offers the same iq as any 36mp bayer would ever be able to. Therefore, until they can introduce 36mp bayer on aps-c (and keep the noise down too) it's going to be a tall order for any other manufacturer to outperform Fuji for some time to come. FF will always offer something more in certain scenarios but the cost/size of aps-c as implemented by Fuji is a pretty compelling proposition when you boil it all down. Certainly the KS-1 offers lots more too, gps, ibis and lots more besides but its not small either, depends what you want/need!

Fortunately those guys at imaging resource took similar fov of the new Pentax KS-1 and xpro-2 and using raw therapee I am pretty satisfied the foliage and overall detail is pretty good now from raw files. Later tonight I have managed to loan a macbook pro retina to test irident in comparison to raw therapee, so that should be interesting. In any event, ignoring that pixel shift does bring even more to the ks-1 but is generally not that practical for anything but completely static subjects I think this is a fair comparison of one 36mp sensor(bayer) vs another (although the fuji is upsampled so we can compare). Should be interesting to see what extra the x-t2 brings over the xpro2 as well and if there will be any further improvements with its introduction next week, happy days and bring on the 16-55 2.8 OIS too Fuji, pleaeessssssssssseee
