Re: 1k budget for lens

I have the 18-55mm, the 56mm and the 35mm 1.4. So I don't havve the lenses you mentioned.

I feel it depends on what kind of shooter you are. If you want a shallow dept of field for portraits and shoor in very low light. F1.2 is very very nice, but this lens is not an indoor action lens.

I thi k the 18-55mm is a very good walk around lens. yes you miss one stop at the long end, but it's light and has OIS.

from what I have read and watched on youtube the 35mm F2 is small, fast and sharp. and it has F2 so a bit better then the F2.8 of the 16-55mm which is big and heavy and doesn;t have OIS. 55-200 has extra reach. That's allways a bonus.

So 35mm and 55-200mm if you ask me. Unless you love the shallow depth of field portrait look. without a battery grip I think the 16-55 is a bit bulky.
