Lens geometry correction in PowerShots

I have doubts about lens correction in compact cameras such as the GxX's, maybe someone can shed some light. It has no practical application, I suppose, just curious to learn something new.

I have a G9x (which is just a tad short of awesome, by the way), and I shoot mostly raw.

Lightroom doesn't have a lens profile for the built-in zoom. DxO 11 has one.

But here's the question: the 'uncorrected' picture in LR is quite close to the DxO *corrected* image.  Conversely, the Dx0 *uncorrected* image has quite visible strong geometry aberrations (and it's quite ugly).

What is going on here? Is LR silently applying an embedded profile to compact cameras?

thanks, zbh
