With a flash like the 90EX, does it communicate with the camera so that it matches the brightness of the flash to your ISO level?

Any modern Canon flash that supports ETTL will be able to communicate with the camera for exposure adjustment.  With the 90EX and the M or M2, all flash settings are handled on the second tab of the menu under "External Speedlite Control"
