There is a 'hidden gem' out there that is hardly mentioned in the forums: the Sigma 300/2.8! Search for a used one. It's excellent value for money.

By the way your settings ( from the exif) seem a bit weird for football photography. ISO 100 and 1/640?? Do you use Av/ Tv or M?
