Thank you.  I was familiar with this information.  My kit zoom is apparently one of the good ones, so if the Voigtlander is the problem, I can switch.  Hotspots aren't my biggest difficulty, however, so if that is all "poor performance" means, then I'd better first figure out why I'm getting such generally crummy pictures.
