Re: compare DX0 post processing to PhotoShop

Although I mentioned defishing, I was actually looking for anyone comparing DX0 to PS CS5 for general post processing. While I have a license for CS5 (now long obsolete), it can't use the Panasonic RW2 raw files, so I always have to convert to DNG. DX0 opens image from RW2. I'm hesitant to go to the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription if DX0 does most of it - didn't know if things like healing brush, background subtract, etc. are in DX0, just starting to learn the software.

I have been using DXO for the past few versions now and currently am on the latest ver. 11. I also have CS6, so my situation is similar to yours.

As already noted by others in this thread, there is no lens module for any of the m4/3 fisheye lenses in DXO so there is no auto correction feature but under the Geometry tab, Distortion setting, select fisheye correction and change the intensity to your liking. I also use hemi fisheye and really love that plug-in, but nice thing with the DXO correction is you can select the intensity vs. the on/off setting in hemi. It is also convenient having it in the raw processor.

For general post processing, I much prefer DXO over PS ACR as my raw processor of choice but for any typical actions like healing/cloning etc., PS is still required. I see them as complimentary to each other.

For the issue of having to convert to DNG's to process raw's in older software, just change the exif's for a work around. When the GM5 was released, I purchased it as soon as it hit the shelves but had to change the raw exif's to GM1 for PS and DXO to edit the raw files until those programs updated their raw engines. Same thing now for my GX85: My version of ACR (PS6) has stopped supporting new camera models (thanks Adobe!) and DXO has not yet released the GX85 camera module yet so I just change my exif's to GM5, and both work fine now. I just copy the raw's to a directory, click on a batch file, and the files are quickly modified, ready for editing. Here is a post I did explaining the process:

You don't need to go to the Adobe cloud subscription, but keep using the software you have now!
