How are your denoising and sharpening skills?

Hi Pixel Boy:

I have seen a number of your images over the recent weeks with the new D500 and they are very good so I am assuming that you also have some very good denoising and sharpening skills. But just in case you might benefit from having another look at them here are two instructional videos that I feel can effectively get any camera/lens combo an additional f-stop in the end result.

By being skillful at removing both colour and luminance noise selectively in the shadows, midtones and highlights, and by effectively sharpening what remains one can usually make an ISO 3200 image look as good or better than an ISO 1600.

Perhaps you might want to give this a look before dropping a few thousand on another lens, or at least while you're considering your options. I have used a D7100 and a D7200 for the last 3 1/2 years and without these advanced denoising and sharpening techniques many of my images would have been very poor.

Here are the links:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYN1FoiXrPg (advanced denoising with Topaz Denoise)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czX5dSmg078 (high pass filter sharpening method)

P.S. If you already know all this, which you very well might judging from your images, please disregard.

Best regards,
Rudy
