Are Fuji working with Hasselblad on a Mirror-Less MF Camera?
3

Let's see what we know:

Fuji has been talking about a mirror-less MF digital for the last two years (at least) - I sat in on a discussion with Fuji and pro X-shooter Zack Arias back in January 2014 at CES.

Sony have already produced a 'MF', 50MP sensor which could be used.

Fuji already produce Mirrorless MF cameras - but for 120 Film use

They partner on the design/manufacture of these cameras with a Austrian camera company Voigtländer so they're used to doing co-branded product development.

So, working with Hasselblad wouldn't be out of the question....

In fact they already do!

Fuji and Hasselblad co-developed the X-Pan/TX-1 panoramic 35mm camera.

Fuji also developed all of the original interchangeable MF lenses for the Hasselblad H series, digital MF camera.

"In 2002, when Hasselblad launched the H System, it came with a new and growing set of lenses manufactured by Fujinon, a subsidiary of Fujifilm in Japan."

So why is all of this important now?

Well, Hasselblad will be making an announcement on June 22nd - and are teasing this with "Hasselblad to release a World's First" tag line, and some intriguing photos of sections of a new camera.

The rumor sites are sure it's a new mirror-less Blad, using the Sony 50MP sensor.

Could this be another collaboration with Fuji, and could they both be bringing a new mirror-less 'MF' camera to the market - with each company eventually selling it's own badged versions?

We'll have to watch the Hasselblad live event feed on the 22nd to find out more

But either way, the mirror-less MF market may be about to take-off as the next frontier in Mirror-Less camera design.
