Been using this thing for a few weeks now. I thought I could live without it. Seems I couldn't.
I was never a huge fan of the hybrid viewfinder. I knew it made the camera (much) more expansive and I am an EVF fan. Turns out it's really nice but the whole camera is just superb.
Let's start with what is really great:
the sensor. 16MP were always good enough. 24MP are better. A bit more resolution, a bit more dynamic range and at the same scale the X-Pro2 files have less noise than X-T1 files.
the autofocus. We are not talking 'great for Fuji' here, we are talking one of the best cameras at the moment overall here! Focus is fast an accurate. Most lenses became faster with the camera while many being nearly instant. Even the old 35mm f/1.4 is one of those. It's like point and shoot. Very nice improvements at low light too. For example you can focus the 90mm in a dark church without hunting. The bit of af-c and tracking I tried was nice too. Camera (with 50-140 and 90mm) was able to keep up with dogs, moving cars dogs and whatever I found.
the joystick. Really a joy to use. There shouldn't be a camera without it
dual SD slots. For wedding photography this is a really nice thing to have! Also the write speed is very good!
the EVF. It's not as big as the one in the X-T1 but it has great dynamic range and refresh rate.
the OVF. Never thought I would use it that much, but with many primes it is really nice to use.
the overall build quality. Superb. Nothing more to say.
the new shutter. yes, X-sync and 1/8000s are nice, but the sound of it! It's orgasmic!
there are many more things but let's look at the cons too:
the fixed display. While it's resolution is very good, I just prefer a flexible display.
the iso dial. While it can be practice at times it just sucks at others. I found this one easier to use than the X-T1s (because you can turn it with your right hand), but sometimes it also changed the shutter speed. (btw. the new Auto ISO settings are really good. Really fast so the ISO dial is a lesser problem than I thought)
the grip. could be bigger. But there are after market grips. Not really an issue.
the bug. had the 'switch on-off' bug once, but it seems it's fixed with the newest firmware
I mostly use manual flash and that works fine. But if Fuji were to finally release it's new flash and firmware (TTL and HSS features) I could give it more points there too. It's more or less the only thing really missing
A few weeks and thousands of images the X-Pro2 now had to work with me and it did in a splendid way. Reading comments about slow Fuji AF now makes me only laugh (try a X-Pro2 with 16-55!)
just one of the last images I exported. Nothing special but the 90mm and X-Pro2 go very nice together. Even with OVF
