Considering the 80D with 100-400 II

Hi everyone,

I posted this question in the 300D-760D forum as well but I would be happy to hear your opinions as well because I see many of you have experience with the 80D.

I apologize for the long post

I currently have the 600D with the Canon 70-200 f4 IS that I bought before a safari trip to Africa a few years ago.

I had to crop a lot but most of the time I got decent shots, although I thought this lens will provide sharper photos than what I get.

Now I'm planning another trip to Africa and I'm having trouble considering an upgrade.

Based on this comparison on the 60D which has the same sensor as my 600D-

the 100-400 looks even less sharp than the 70-200.

Will it actually be so not sharp?

I also saw this video which confused me even more-

He says that EF lens will not provide sharp results on an APSC body compared to FF but when cropping it will provide photos with larger resolution.

I'm considering these options:

1. buying a 80D and using with my 70-200. The 24 MP will help me with cropping compared to the 600D 18MP.

2. buying both 80D and 100-400 II

But based on reviews I read, I'm not sure how much improvment in sharpness (mainly with the 70-200), ISO preformance and focus system I will get compared to the 600D.

We don't have the 80D and the 100-400 to rent here yet, so I can't try them out.

this is a 100% crop with the 70-200. not sharp in my opinion..

Thank you,
