Photographing the Queen's Birthday Kokopo > Rabaul 30+km bike race today, I nearly missed a pic of the winner of the women's open section. She was picked up by a police Toyota about 1km from the finish and it then proceeded to lead her in.
But it was actually going to slowly for her so as she came to my photo point near the finish, she was right up behind it, within a meter or two -- and out of sight!
I just had time to grab a shot woth the GX7+12-35 as she went past next to me -- and to my surprise, when I looked at the pic, it was a double or spread image of her. I had feared a focusing error so had given it a bit of aperture.
I applied Focus Magic Motion Blur filter, was able to ascertain that the extent of the spread -- 7 pixels horizontally -- and it fixed her up nicely.
But check out the figures in the background of the corrected image! LOL!
Corrected image.
Original image.
Fortunately she had a big lead so the slowness of the police car was not a threat to her position.
As a long time user of FM (and recommended it here many times) I'd point out that, when used in 'plug-in' mode - to, for instance, Photoshop - the corrections can be applied to a selected area - or a selection can be made as a separate layer and the corrections applied to that only. That gets rid of the 'background effect' that you mention above.
I often use it in group photos where one member of the group decided to move at the press of a shutter!
Thanks for sharing!
I had never thought of that! And PhotoLine, which I have FM plugged into, is layers to the nth degree. Good grief.
Thanks to you both! I'm really glad I posted! This forum is a mine of information.
