I don't like that upgrade cycle at all I think that Canon needs to work harder than that to earn the dollars. I have had my current model going on two years and I am not ready to upgrade yet. I am in training at the moment so I can't consider any upgrades while I am in training. Might move to the middle level models when I do, the 80d, I like that model but do not feel like paying that price for it so I will wait and the 70d does not offer enough to get me to upgrade. I will wait to see what the 90d looks like in a few years.

What's your upgrade strategy.

I don't really have a strategy.

I'm still happily using the 450D (XSi), which is now an 8 year old model or 6 generations. If I was a heavy user and had money to burn I would have upgraded long ago.

At the moment, I'm not sure when I will upgrade and to what.

You only really have to decide if you want APS-C or full frame as it affects which lenses you buy.  Once you decide this you can jump between the series in these two groups and still re-use all your lenses.
