upgrade strategy

Excellent info.  Now that I have just about all of my gear together I can think about my upgrade strategy.

I come to digital photography from the world of network administration where one of the concepts we talk about is the formulation of an upgrade strategy.  The worst thing in the world to have happen is to have a router or a server go down right in the middle of a mission critical process or in the middle of a work day.  Thus we plan to replace hardware and software to ensure that failures do not happen.  When was the last time that you went out on a picture taking trip and you are all ready to take that Pulitzer prize winning photo and your camera says "I have had it."  Need to balance that with the addition of new capabilities.

I don't like that upgrade cycle at all I think that Canon needs to work harder than that to earn the dollars.  I have had my current model going on two years and I am not ready to upgrade yet.  I am in training at the moment so I can't consider any upgrades while I am in training.  Might move to the middle level models when I do, the 80d, I like that model but do not feel like paying that price for it so I will wait and the 70d does not offer enough to get me to upgrade.  I will wait to see what the 90d looks like in a few years.

What's your upgrade strategy.
