Bypass 1/200 Shutter Limit Using Studio Strobe

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a 600W Godox strobe and the specs stated the strobe will support a maximum of 1/2000 shutter speeds. While connected via sync cable, shooting on my Canon 5D Mark III, I was not able to exceed the 1/200 limit.

Using a Yongnuo YN560IV I am able to easily exceed the 1/200 limit, but not with the strobe. I was under the impression that a strobe would give me more..

I purchased a couple things off eBay: and

Will either set solve my problem? Is there something I am missing? Surely 1/200 isn't the limit?? I would appreciate any advice on this! Thanks!

EDIT: This is the strobe I purchased. I got a very good deal on it and honestly, other than my limited knowledge with strobes, I really like it. Build quality is nice and I've had no issues using it. Couldn't really afford anything else anyways.
