What Lenses For Alaskan Cruise (not for landscape or wildlife)?

She has a small light EF-S 18-55 3.5-5.6 STM for her SL1. Not the greatest lens, but good for her learning on at her 13 year old millennial responsibility level, LOL. Yes, she would take care of one of my lenses, but I have noticed in some to the discussions here that even good EF lenses resolve less than average EF-S lenses on APS-C cameras. With that in mind, is there ever any good reason to put an EF lens on an APS-C camera?
