Tamron 90 mm macro, my lemonade
Jun 1, 2016
by now most know of my experience at the gear test drive at the zoo. This is my 2nd gear test drive. I only choose 3 different lenses to use this time. I've choosen to break into 2 groups, some of my Tamron 90 mm shots.
This grouping will be mostly closeups, not quite sure they'd qualify as macro, seems to be a fine line there. I wanted to show what this lens can do on my Canon t4i body.
When I decided to check out this lens I went in search of flowers to photograph, at first. But, soon the wind began to gust strongly. You may have heard the saying: when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. After my frustrations subsided, I went in search of what I could use this lens for, in spite of the weather conditions. I only had an hour to spend with this lens, so I had to keep moving along. All shots were hand held.
As always, comments and feedback welcome.
ss 1/4000, fs 5.6, ev .-5, iso 200 center focus point used
don't know what this lizzard is. Went indoors to get out of the wind. Shot through plexiglass, no flash used.
ss 1/128, fs 2.8, ec .-5, iso 800 I wanted to see what this lens wide open might do. Focus point on eye.
back outside, found this flower and grabbed this in-between wind gusts
ss 1/3000, -.5 ec, fs 4.76, iso 400 center of flower was focus point
another unidentified flower in one of the zoo's flower beds
ss 1/4000, ec.-5, fs 4.76, iso 400
this one looks very similar to what I know as a wild geranium
ss 1/4000, -.5, fs 4.76, iso 400 focus point center of flower, how 'bout that bokeh ?
after seeing this one on my monitor, I placed this lens on my wish list.
ss 1/4000, fsw 2.8, -.5 ec, iso 400 focus spot on left flower. I could easily get hooked on the bokeh this lens provides.
I don't feel qualified (having less than an hour spent with this lens) to give a review on it. You can see for yourself some of what my hour yielded. I liked how lightweight it is, and the image stabilization worked well for me. Lens currently sells in the $500-$650 range, depending on where you buy it. I will say, a lot of bang for your buck.
My next group will be more of a portrait style use of this lens.
Thanks for viewing,
Mike
